Driving in Traffic: Touring the Blogsphere at Rush Hour started out in 2005 as a personal blog built on a play on words.

First, I live in Atlanta. Very few places in the world are as bad for traffic. I figure I spend about 2 to 2 1/2 hours in the car a day. Subsquently, I do a lot of thinking about things while commuting back and forth to work. So some of my posts will reflect how my mind wandered while “Driving in Traffic” on the trip home.

Second, I had started a blog for my business and helped a physician friend start his own blog. At the time, I was surprised and delighted to see how much traffic each of these blogs has been getting. I’ve learned that you can really get your stuff out there in the right places with a blog. Thus- driving in traffic….

Beginning to see a pattern here….

Lastly, I have a lot of other stuff that I like doing. I sit on the board of an animal rescue organization in Atlanta, Our Pal’s Place. I love taking jewelry making classes at Atlanta Artworx when I have time. And many, many more places and good people I would like to help promote.

Blogging being the hot hobby at the time—The more I read about it, the more obsessed I became with learning more about tapping into the social networking craze and seeing what others have to say.

As my obsession took hold, I began to become more active in the healthcare and nonprofit spaces (two areas I am passionate about).  While these are very niche markets, over time I’ve had the opportunity to consult with and help organizations develop blogging and social media strategies that help them maximize their search engine positions as well as build and sustain relationships with their clients/customers.

Given these successes, in April 2006 I decided to formally launch my services and solicit for new clients.  To date, they had mostly come through word of mouth. This decision was hastened by a series of webhosting  and domain name trials and tribulations associated with Driving In Traffic–the blog.  So June 1, 2006, www.drivingintraffic.com became the static website and www.drivingintrafficblog.com became the domain for this blog.

With this change, the blog direction changed.  Where this was once a personal blog where I could play, it has now become a more “wonky” blog focused on healthcare and nonprofit communications, social media use, and marketing.  Here I hope that potential clients can learn more about me, how I think and possibly a tip or two that can help them.

So thanks for stopping by.  I hope that you will find something that interests you.  If you decide to leave a comment– please take note of the comment policy below.
