Carol Kirshner, MS, CCRC, CPRP

Carol is currently the Principal at Driving In Traffic, a boutique, social media and marketing consultancy company that specializes in healthcare and nonprofit organizations. She currently operates two blogs out of this endeavor: Driving In Traffic Blog and Dollar Philanthropy. She is an invited participant blogger within the iVillage.com social network for their new endeavor, iVillageCares. She has also moderated sessions at the Healthcare Blogging Summit and here.
She also spends part of her time at Promedica Research Center where she manages the nursing continuing education program implementation, program development and internet marketing strategies. Where in October 2005, she started a blog to help to provide a value added resource to the programs her company provides.

Previously, Carol was Director of New Business Development for Schizophrenia Treatment and Rehabilitation (STAR), a subsidary of Charter Medical Corporation. In this role, she worked to open model outpatient programs in Indianapolis and Orlando to help individuals with schizophrenia reintegrate into the community. Here she was involved in everything from site set-up, development of group home facilities, staff selection and training, Joint Commssion compliance, and overall marketing for the facilities.

Over the last 10 years, she has as lectured in the US and Japan on the use of psychoeducation as an intervention to help individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses become more able to self-manage their disease. She was a lead co-author on a widely used and touted patient education module called “Solutions for Wellness” that was marketed by Eli Lilly & Company as a part of their Neurotreatment Team Partners intiative. She also has co-authored a variety of scientific publications and a psychiatric nursing textbook chapter.

Lastly, Carol has a masters degree from Mercer University in Health Policy and Administration and currently teaches a master and bachelor level courses for the University of Phoenix (Online), College of Health Sciences.Personal interests include her work with an Atlanta animal rescue organization and gardening. She also enjoys making jewelry and playing with her african violets and orchids.
